    Hi,

Is team driving worth it? Got any pros and cons? How much better is the pay? My buddy and I are thinking about team driving, been my friend since 13 so I don’t think I’d strangle him to death or something lol We’re gonna do Western Express flatbed once he goes through truck driving school.

    Best regards, John

With the right company, it could make for a nice check, especially running coast to coast. Alot of reefer and dry van companies are evolving to teams

I team drive with my son. Been doing it for five years now. Pro's outweigh cons for me. You will be cooped up in small space for long periods, so you better be able to get along. If you want to team, I would suggest running vans, and make sure and get doubles, triples and hazmat, that's where the money is for teams. It's mostly drop and hook, and you don't have to find a parking place. Also, who ever is running nights better be good at staying awake.

I’ll give vans a thought but it didn’t cross my mind until now since I’m enjoying flatbed; heck I don’t even know if they have a position for flatbed teams, guess I gotta look into this one more

    Your son’s a lucky guy

You will have to be patient. It's not about whether you think you won't strangle him to death or not. Do you have the maturity to be a team driver? Do you have the ability to give as much as you can take?

But in my experience yes, the extra money should be there.

Regardless of how well you two get along, understand that there will be various situations where you are going to have to work harder because of something your partner does. If you choose to nit pick every little thing that goes your way, the two of you are probably going to have a conflict.

My advice to you if you choose to do it is understand what I just said. If your partner does something that annoys you, think about it for awhile and decide if it's worth the battle. Think about the things your partner does for you, or the things he puts up with so you can be more comfortable. It's a two-way street. And you probably aren't ever going to be 100% comfortable. Because there are two different people in that truck. If a conflict does start to happen between you two, hit the pause button. Allow time to pass and for your head to cool down. Once that happens go from there.

The money is there if you can swing it and over an average amount of time you should have respectable income.

It used to be that way between us, but I agree the added stress will be a new challenge
