New Freight tractor...?

Because, maybe many, like me, are sick of shifting but don't want an automatic. I've driven trucks with some pretty tired 10 speeds that still worked fine, but had lots of problems with splitters over the years. Years ago, the 13 speed "Road Ranger" was created for 2 cycle Detroits that had a very narrow power band. Keeping the "needle against the pin" required a split shifting transmission. Today, modern engines produce plenty of power and I feel, for a road truck, there's no need to row thru the gears, unless you just want to be cool. Trust me, after 35 years, it gets old. I actually LIKED the old Mack 5 speeds

 

You can drive a 13 or an 18 and leave the splitter alone...it becomes a 9 speed.
ETA: I don’t like lugging a Cummins down to 1300 rpm in a hard pull nor do I like reving a Cat to 1800.

 

I suppose with 3:55's, a 10 speed may not work. All the 10 speed trucks I drove years ago all had 4:11's.

 

MX 11 is even lighter.

 

Cat i think you'd pull off the look real good with the d11 volvo.

 

Weight compared to the Paccar transmission?

 

The last time I checked it’s not available in an L, only in the B.

A local company around here runs macks with mp7 (d11) with 6x2 i can't recall wt but they're real light
