Not at all what I've said or indicated. My argument is that some things are subtly racist / bigoted which fosters bad feelings from those who are targeted. You put words in my mouth that I'd never utter.

That's all I've wanted here---just to give everyone another way to look at things. I never wanted an argument or hard feelings. I just think many here need to walk in another's shoes before they decide what is hurtful or damaging to others. I respect that we can disagree respectfully.

The IRONY here is that the ones that yell and scream racism the most, are in THEIR own way the biggest racists.

If you (quatto) think everything going on in Portland and Seattle is the new future you need a rude awakening.

Those of us that actually lived in the 40's, 50' & 60's can tell you what ACTUAL racism is/was. We, as a country have come SO FAR from those times, it's really laborious to hear your (quatto) dribble.

[QUOTE="quatto, post: 10473724, member: 109681" And the shootings are mostly by police and those egged on by our illustrious leader. [/QUOTE]

Seriously.....tell that to all the black families in Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, LA etc.....where the local citizens are killing each other in large numbers.....it's certainly isn't the cops.....

That is correct. However, the climate in this country is calling more for sensitivity more than ethnic humorous "jabs". These stereotypes evolve into racism in some cases. The institutionalized racism within police forces is a prime example. We have a problem in this country that tolerates racism in it's milder forms. These seemingly innocuous habits create the environment in which overt racism can and has grown. I see no valid reason why these outdated practices can't be abandoned in favor of a more compassionate world that doesn't divide us from one another. There is a powerful current toward compassion for one another---you know, the snowflake movement. ;-) Nothing can stop that tide now. Not even institutionalized ignorance.

Well it has nothing to do with race. The cop car says "indian police" on it .

It's "drivel " not "dribble". And I grew up in the 60's, marched with Martin Luther King, protested the Viet Nam war (as a veteran), and lived in DC during the riots. I came face-to-face with a white supremacist outfit back in the 70's, and got fired from a State job because I was black. (In fact, I've never heard the "N" word so used as much as I did in the state government!) I have seen the beast and it's still alive and well..... Have you??

I suggest you look beyond the problems of Portland and Seattle and honestly see what the world is doing. The movements toward a more compassionate future are worldwide. There is nothing that can stop it. People are resolved to win over the dark cloud that about 40% of this country lives under....and they will.
