Purchased a well worn 07 4900fa a few months ago. Planning a complete rebuild. Always wanted a Western Star, and found this one cheap. Needs a lot of work, but its paid for. Thought I would share my journey from the start. ws2 (2).JPG ws2 (1).JPG

Good for you. That's a lot of hard work, but if you have the facilities and knowledge and tools, (I have none of those things) then it's probably not a bad thing.

This is what I've been doing with mine that I purchased earlier this year. Ran it for a month then threw a reman tranny in it, and rebuilt other driveline stuff. Then completely replaced all AC stuff. And every few weeks been rebuilding stuff. Mines also a 07 4900fa.
Good luck! I'll be watching for your progress!

Specs man specs, what's she have? You gonna ditch the EGR ( can't discuss specifics here, forum rules) tune and turbo? Or oem rebuild

    She looks pretty clean

It's currently got 1.3 million on the 14l Detroit, got the dreaded ultrashift auto in it. Was thinking about swapping a 13 speed in, but the ultrashift had a new clutch. Thinking about giving it a chance to cut down on some of the work. The only thing that really looked bad in the engine were the bearings and the oil pump. Hoping to have it on the road by the end of the month.
