To avoid confusion, Kivi is a percentage pay based company, using a monthly running mileage formula for a pay percentage increase.

Basically they want to encourage drivers to run, to many were not putting in miles so for runners like @Very Metal Kivi is making it possible to put money in your pocket.

I am going to have to work on my hometime because I actually had a month under the 8,000 mile minimum but I also had months in the bonus (12K). For those who live in their trucks and chase $’s it could work out quite nicely. I know of a few gentlemen drivers who might not be as happy lol.

I never like to run that hard, it so happened to be because of the Alaska run. I feel that I'm a steady Bronze level driver. That's why I want percentage, I'm done chasing miles in the "cpm" aspect.

With the new performance pay plan I decided to update my load tracking spreadsheet and take a look back at 2019 in a bit more detail to see how the 8,000 mile minimum would impact how I run.

For example, in 2019 my average loaded miles were only 8500 per month, understand we have to add in the deadheads, and I really try to choose loads that pay out. Heck as much as I love to drive, why do more than you need lol. Year to date my average loaded miles are 9,400 so I'm at least ahead of the minimum on the loaded alone so I guess I'm good. I also have a couple of 12K plus months so I would qualify some of the time.

Attached you can see the charts that show the linehaul (paid to truck) and pay comparison, the data shows how nicely the year was shaping up before COVID-19 struck, a real bummer the impact on freight, but I'm still doing OK and I have my health which is a blessing.

So there's the update on the Kivi story for me at least, still a good place to work and I'm really happy I'm here. I won't be going to heavy haul anytime soon which is a bummer, but thankfully I really love what I'm doing and the company spoils me so hey work with what works!

Well someday I'll do a run in Alaska, really been focusing on hometime lately as we're trying to get our kids off to college (the third for one and the second for the other lol) and this time we're making clear we don't want them coming back - its the ole we'll come and visit you for Thanksgiving this year :).

I finally received my updated passport though so I am looking at going to Canada when I can which will help add to the $'s earned and heck who knows, maybe an Alaska run next year would work out.

    How's FCC treating you?

Things are good at FCC, in nine months my truck will be paid off. They keep me loaded and rolling, and leave me alone. I’m glad to see things are working for you over there, stay safe.

    Winnyf1 and Lonesome Thank this.

Awesome to hear, in nine months we’ll have to start calling you big money lol. Seriously stay safe and run strong!
