On the surface Pride seems like a great company, but once inside it quickly becomes apparent that all of the information you have been given is meaningless.
They do pay you .41mi, but they use scripted routes, 65mph trucks that are absolutely gutless and long delivery windows. What this means for you:
    1) You must follow their scripted fuel routes. If you deviate they will attempt to charge you for fuel purchased at non-designated stops. In addition, these routes are often on secondary roads, with average speed of 52mph or less.
    2) Their trucks are severely governed and while they offer fuel bonuses for anything above 6.9mpg, they will route you over very steep terrain that your truck will struggle to go 20mph up. What this means is that any gains in fuel savings you made will be lost as the truck eats fuel in this power starved setup.
    3) Routes often have long delivery windows. What should take ~3 days or less will have 5day windows. You'll find yourself sitting on a load waiting for your delivery time. You may often find yourself waiting 24hrs for your next load as well.

What all of these add up to is time. The longer it takes you to go from point A to point B, means more time off of your 70hr clock. It also means having to drive longer each day in order to keep your mileage up. If you are waiting for a load, every minute is closer to your delivery not being finished on this week's payroll.

Just purely math (we all know what you theoretically can drive and what realistically happens):
    Best case- 60mph * 70hrs = 4200mi * .41mi = $1722
    Avg. Case- 55mph * 70hrs = 3500mi * .41mi = $1435
    Pride Case- 35mph * 70hrs = 2450mi * .41 = $1004.50
The Pride Case factors in slow routing, wait times and other factors that end up limiting how many actual miles might get driven in a week. In many cases this is less.

The hidden part of this is fatigue. In order to make your deliveries, you must use your entire clock each day. This means that you will often burn not only your 11hr clock, but your 14 hour clock. This has real implications later, when you struggle to gain back hours so that your following week is not hampered by a 34 hour reset, thus shortening your next week's income.

Many companies do this. Pride is not alone - this is an industry-wide issue. If you think this just happened organically you would be wrong. There are Industry Groups that get together at conventions to discuss how to suppress wages and disadvantage drivers - these companies talk to each other.
What is different is that on paper, this looks like a great deal. 41cpm is not bad for a big company to offer. Fuel bonuses sounds good. You do the math and based on your own experience, you feel you could do pretty well. This is not the case.

It will feel as if everything is set up to show you down, and you would be right. You are not only fighting the clock, but the truck and company are all working against you. The trucks are setup to go slow. The routes are designed to eat hours. Everything is designed so that your income is limited. The less they have to pay you, the more they make.

They make you purchase an inverter, through them, if you want one in the truck. It is not run directly to battery, so on Frieghtliners everytime the ParkSmart system starts the truck your inverter power is shunted.

All work must be done in their shop, including putting a TV in, because there are no factory mounts in vehicles. Everything is at your expense. They will do all in their power to shift costs onto you, including emergency services. Stay away from these people.

So they both give you 5 days to do a 3 day run, but require you to run your hours out every day. How does that work?

Because of (3) with their longer than normal window times of 5 days they should up the mileage pay rate to $0.50 cpm or even $0.55 cpm to make it fair that itch your minimum 2450 mi is $1225 or $1347. Earning $1004.50 seems like a decade old base pay that most good companies made back in 2010. Even on a weekly day cab job that's only $25.11 per hours whiles most good companies average pay rate hourly is $27 plus.

Then the question is, is it drop and hook loads or live loads? If its drop and hook, then you may have to look at your running style. If its live loading and unloading, unless there are strict appts, it's no reason not to be proactive and try to get it off asap

When I worked there they went from wide open trucks to 70mph trucks. 35 drivers pulled into the yard and turned their keys in when they turned down their trucks. I was gone before they went to 65. Jeff is a nice guy but I had to wonder if upstairs had any clue what downstairs was doing.
