Go with Bat if you are going to use a psycho name. And unless you are pulling a lot of weight, you don't need a 13 speed, unless you are trying to impress other truckers.

    The good?

A solid cab, sleeper uses a composite material.

It isn't difficult to deal with problems.

It isn't a cascadia by any means.

    The bad?

    Can be abused easily

It is heavier than other trucks.

Has issues with fit and finish with the cabs, many of them have little hidden water leaks - every one of mine built before 2019 had its left windshield removed and resealed.

Now some real advice, don't look at just one truck, look at a bunch. Don't get all freely touchy of the brand or make, they are pretty much all the same. The engine and drive train is the most important.

Do your due diligence, get the truck on a dyno, get the blowby test, have the fluids all check, get the ECM dump printed out and get a mechanic look at the thing from the bumper to the mud flaps to find problems.

The reason i like the wester star was interior. I want to take the wife sometimes and it seems to have more room then others. Plus i like the look of the truck. Other than water leaks i haven't heard bad things about it.

As to brand.......buy the brand that has the best service for you.
If you plan to run locally.......a local workshop.
Running longer distances.........see along the lines you will travel the most, who has the best service.

Oil samples are useless because a truck on the lot likely has fresh oil in it.

And if you’re going to pull a tank you’re going to want to find a lighter truck. You’ll be getting paid by weight and every bit matters. The WS is nice with all the wood cabinets and everything but that all comes at a cost.
