Is prime still a good training/ starter company

To the original post, in my years as a trucker, I've seen a lot of Schneider, Prime, and JB Hunt drivers go on to have good careers, so take that how you will.

Per the Leasing department;

They don't allow new drivers to do a lease purchase

 

If their recruiters are as slow as their trucks, it may be awhile before you hear back from them.....

There's other companies you can go to, that is if you're not interested in leasing.

 

Don't be scared to lease or lease purchase. But also understand the risks you take leasing. Prime pays 72% of the gross. That's pretty good. You make a pretty penny.

I am leased with ATS. And make 65% of the gross and still make a pretty penny. (Got the app in for Prime now, 72% and pulling a reefer are more down my ally)

Many people will say to steer clear of the lease. And for many people, it is good advice. I am not here to tell you what you should or shouldn't do. I will tell you I ran 2700 miles last week, pulling 3 loads and grossed $5015.16 After expenses and ATS cut, net settlement deposited into my account was $2090.99. That is after ALL expenses including fuel. Now out of that I have to set aside some for quarterly taxes. So figure 1700-1800 to me. This is NOT an every week paycheck though. Some weeks are worse. Some are better. And this is at 65% linehaul. For me it works. For others it doesn't.
You can make $1000 to $1300 as a company driver, have less headache and less worry. Or make $1500 to $2000 as a lease or purchase driver, but always be worrying about a breakdown or delay. Either way you go, there is money to be made. So be safe out there and get some miles!
