Friend bought a project ‘76 Freightliner COE. It’s got a SC Cummins with intercooler. No accessory drive tag but I found an engine cast number on the block under the front head. No numbers under the rear driver side head like a BC. The number I found is, 10418112. Can y’all tell what this is?

If it has a jacket water aftercooler it is most likely a NTC-350 or possibly an NTA-400.
could you post pictures of both sides of the engine?650cat425 and mile marker 27 Thank this. -
Look to see if the pt pump has a calibration tag on the top of it. Look for a cpl# on that tag. Cpl# 160 was the most popular setup for a 350.650cat425 and mile marker 27 Thank this.

Well he sent me a pic of the left side and I’ll try to have him get one of the right side tomorrow.SmallPackage and 650cat425 Thank this.

Here’s the right side.

Don’t think I’ve ever been around a SC 370. They weren’t a Formula engine or anything unique?650cat425 Thanks this.

Looks like a NTC 350 oil cooler and waterpump. The NTA’s 370,400,420 had unique waterpumps lower on the rightside and the oil coolers had a cast cone shape cover on the oil filter that stood vertical on the front of the cooler. Could have been converted from an NTA long ago but those parts to do it are not around anymore.

The NTA’s were a more industrial high horse factory “hot rod” motor. Low compression and retarded “slow” timing. They smoked white when cold or not working hard. Pulled hard and ran good but they didn’t last long on the market because they would burn hot pyros and melt down easy and the KT’s became availiable.650cat425, spsauerland and mile marker 27 Thank this.

That number came from the driver side front of the block, just under the front head.
You think since those number suggest a NTA 370, the oil cooler and water pump could’ve been swapped? Well we’ve narrowed it down to either a 350 or 370. I’ll try to get some numbers off the injection pump. There’s a little tag on it, that has some, “hand” scribed numbers on it. This truck was ran over the road hard, for alot of years and there’s been some “tinkering” goin on with this engine.650cat425 Thanks this.
