got that load delivered and was out 5 minutes b4 appt time lol.
picked the other one in fontana ca and headed here.
stop at loves in n Las vegas for 30 to get dinner.
when I got to misquite nv, electronic sign said i15n closed at mm22
pulled over with the other trucks to
looked it up and was a vehicle fire.
sat about 45 minutes b4 traffic started to move.
don't know when it started but I must have caught the end of it.
switched trailers when I got here and spending the nite as usual.
much cooler here.

Amazing the temperature difference ... I loaded in Vegas a couple of weeks ago ... 116* ... Shut down at the rest stop just before Beaver and it was under 80* ... Didn't even turn on the AC that night.

 

Only time ive had an issue is with a bad or bent leveling valve.

In my experience some trailers manufacturers are better than others. I think in the past our worst issues were with our Fontaine steps.

And some of our old beat to death wabashs.

The easts are always fine. Even the older ones.

But especially if we got 60foot rebar or something even scooted up as far as itll go its usually tail heavy. And when your approaching 39k- 40k on the back is when it particularly becomes an issue. There are other loads where it gets unavoidable.

Most of the time if a load is well balanced i never check the spread weight. Its just when I get a tail heavy load.

 

Put truck in the shop tuesday, teamed with a driver i worked with on coreslab up to Vegas cause he was out of hours. Truck wasnt done till Friday so I stayed home till sunday and got a rental down to PHX.

Truck was in shop for service and a few minor repairs, like my beacon lights and left turn signal switch wasnt locking in place.

Got a 1500 Ram with the 5.7lieter the way down. Drove about like our challenger. Cant even tell your driving a pickup these days. I mean on the one hand its comfy as can be. But its a far cry from all those I used to drive on the farm.

Delivered a load near here this morning and then came here to sit all day. No pplans.
At around 1720 I get a plan, and it was sent by my DM.

It picks up where I delivered, and it was ready when I delivered this morning.

read on a website that that closure on i15 mm 23 in the gorge was a tractor trailer catching on fire. tractor was hanging over side of bridge.
was closed for 13 hrs.
guess I caught the end of closure.
glad the driver escaped and wasn't hurt

 

do you call your dm about loads b4 getting empty?

 

Not usually. I don't like to bother her, and she is not normally allowed to plan loads.
She does it from time to time, but I won't ask her to do it.


I will be calling her tomorrow after I pick up this load.
The delivery was set out an additional 2 days, and I'm not willing to sit on it that long.
It will be a big waste of my time, getting back to the shipper and then going back to the terminal to t-call it.
About 15 miles total for all that time. And the loaded miles were only 135 to begin with.

She stepped in to get me my last load out here for the weekend, which was a decent load.
But sometimes things just work out wonky, like today.
I'm sure she will make sure I have something decent to make up for it. She is like that.
