Here is the thing about leasing a truck lets say company A.is paying .89cpm+fsc they can get some moron to run there truck for about $1.02 (pm). They dont have to pay SS, HEALTH INS, PAYROLL TAXS so yeah if your stupid enough to lease a truck form one of these companies they will let you all day long. When they have to hire a company driver there is a lot of other money they have to pay other than your salary. Most people dont even now that for every dollar you spend in ss tax the company has to match it. When you lease one of there trucks they do not.

Yeah, i hear ya there. I would like to lease a truck eventually but I am going to wait til I have the necessary experience to get a decent insurance rate as well as waiting for the economy to become more stable. I look at load boards alot and there is a ton of freight waiting for a truck to hook up too or load and get it moved. That is a definite option in the future though. Right now I am going through the phone book calling up local dumper and/or logging outfits to get a job. I have a few leads on that area so I am pursuing that as of about a week and a half ago.

Look at those load boards all you want. If it is paying even a half decent rate ie:1.60 cpm +FSC for dry, 2.00 +fsc flat, 2.15 cpm tank. Then it is probibly going someplace that there is no decent paying freight coming out.
Those numbers are for cheap freight that can get you to a better lane in most times. Now they are high numbers. I see flat stuff coming out of TX and IL for 1.00 a mile or less. That is a joke.
So leasing or buying a truck is not happening for me at the moment
