Must be a thermostat, controlled by temp knob. I’m wondering why both lines are cold. Must be partially open. I’d try to get those wires hooked up, where they need to be, and insulate the expansion valve, especially the temp bulb, before changing it.
spsauerland and mile marker 27 Thank this. -
Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I think it’s thermostat type set up, to keep temps consistent. Someone familiar with Kenworths would know.

Maybe @spsauerland would know.

The wires cut are for the solenoid that controls refrigerant flow to sleeper expansion valve. Should click when you turn sleeper A/C on. Sleeper water flow is controlled by a electric water valve. Also is a temp sensor in panel that goes bad too, the sleeper A/C is early vintage automatic temp control. Get me last six of VIN and I can get sleeper wiring diagram and help you more.

Here is wiring diagram and breakdown of parts. Might not be exact breakdown of you panel. If you read the wiring diagram, mode switch allows to cycle blower motor or the refrigerant solenoid valve. I couldn't find the relay and thermostat P/N's on ECAT. This is older HVAC system than I have worked on in past!
