Yes, actually I did. I was on a long downhill grade on the I-80 in Wyoming. In that section of road I believe the posted limit for trucks was 75...70 for sure. In any case, I let my speed run up to 67-68. Company called to say I was over limit. I explained to them I was well below the posted truck speed limit and was told the company max is 65. No letter of any kind and I never let it happen again. That may have been the 1-5 mph speed violation I was told was part of the reason I was fired.
Just got fired....now what?

So I will make this general statement to you AS WELL as all the new drivers and driver wannabees! Pay CLOSE attention during orientation to what you are told about the carriers and their rules. I would also take notes and make sure you understand ALL of these rules. If you continue orientation is is an implied agreement with them. Then if you later get tagged and lose your job because you violated a rule, it is ON YOU! Not the carrier!lutzman Thanks this. -
My own truck speedo often shows different speeds than that displayed on my GPS and Google maps. A 2-3 mph discrepancy is not unbelievable. Hell, even new drive tires will affect speedo reading vs actual speed over ground. -
Just an FYI...I was just offered a job with another company. Thanks to everyone here that gave me the benefit of their advice and insight on my situation. I really appreciate it.
Speed_Drums, Redtwin and JolliRoger Thank this. -

Right now it seems that as long as a driver hasn't killed someone, they can get fired at one company and be back in the seat with another in less than a week.
There really must be a "driver shortage" after all. -
If my company hounded me for going 68 in a 75 I'd laugh at them and if they were actually serious about it I'd be gone. What a joke.

lutzman Thanks this.

wait companies can fire you because a few U turns?

As long as they don't claim it's for a protected reason like race or gender they can fire you for any reason, or none.p608 Thanks this.
