    Day 5. Truck time.

Today we had same thing for breakfast. French toast. No lunch because we got everything we needed by 10.

Today they issued us trucks and equipment. We also got assigned a trainer. After we got everything I need from the instructor by 10 we checked out the trucks. By the time i got everything checked out i was gone by 12 or 1... I took my time.

I got a 2019 mid roof Volvo. It had a refrigerator and tv mount. My truck came with a carrier APU which was a little low on oil. Topped it off and it was good to go. The last guy left some of his spare parts on truck which was a plus. I also grabbed spare fuses, window wipers and fluids.

They also issued us a bucket full of connections and other essentials we may need. The guy said it was worth about 3000 dollars so we had to put a 450 dollar deposit which we pay off in weekly increments of 25 or 50. He wasn't sure. He said it is to ensure we take care of them. He said you get the deposit back once you turn everything in before leaving Oakley. Sounds fair to me. Im wondering if the guy who has my truck got his deposit back because he left a bag spare parts in the truck that I got along with everything else i left a deposit for. Lol.

So that was about it. I went to Wal-Mart and got a bunch of things for my truck and was back in the hotel by 4pm.

Saturday And Sunday (day 6 and 7) will be spent at the terminal going over pumping again. My trainer is actually the guy teaching us tomorrow so that's a plus for me.

Thats about all for today. I need to figure out the 30 buttons on the dash/steering wheel now. Lol.

As always thanks for reading. If your thinking about applying, send me a personal message before you do and I'll.go over some things i don't want to post on here. Drive safe truckers!

    Day 6. More pump training.

Showed up at the yard at 7:30am. Training started at 8. Met my trainer I'll be going out with Monday. Great guy. Seems real knowledgeable and chill. Hes been with Oakley 10 years and training for 7. So I think I got lucky with my trainer. We each did about 2 or 3 cycles each before we called it a day. I felt a lot more comfortable after today as far as pumping goes. We were outta there by 12.

Tomorrow should be a repeat of today. The guy said no freebies tomorrow. So hopefully I wont get wet. Haha...

Now I'm at Chili's having a couple drinks after burning up outside...

As always, if your going to apply, send me a private message so I can give you more info I havnt posted on here... Thanks guys.

Good score on the 2019 Volvo. Are they still putting you up in a hotel after you got your truck?. I thought they might have expected you to sleep in it after it was assigned.

No sleeping in trucks at Oakley during training... Ill be in the hotel till I finish training. Our trainers are local. We meet at the yard and come back same day till training is over.

Days 8 and 9 (Monday and Tuesday).

I showed up at the yard early both days early and have to meet my trainer early tomorrow as well. We went over the Qualcomm procedures involved in taking and dropping the load along with real customer experience.

So far I've done 2 loads. When the trainer and yourself think your ready and comfortable enough to go out on your own, you get released. I volunteered to stay put till at least Friday to get a solid week of training before going out on my own. So we will see what happens.

Friday after work im going to grab the last little bits of things I need to go on my own.

Also had time to go over other things such as what to do when needing truck service and help fixing my logs..along with othet company policies that affect my safety and quartly bonus.

Ill probably post 1 or 2 more updated at the end of the week before I call this quits. Hope y'all learned more than what was out there before about Oakley.

One other thing. I was told training was 125/day but its actually 150... Score.

    Good night guys.

I’ve been here a year+. Don’t particularly care about referral bonuses, he can have them. But if anybody wants to know something he can’t answer, I might be able too.

You made more in training and orientation pay than I did running loads last week.
