How does a X15 pull against a DD16 if anyone has run both? Also any major issues with either under 300k? Next thing is any noticeable differences between x15 565 and 605 in performance?

Good question, I hope someone can answer. I do know everyone I've talked to with the performance X15 has said it's a great engine.

Don't know about performance. I have a DD16 it gets about 0.8 mpg better pulling 140,000 lbs than buddies International HX520 with 565 X15.

That must have something to do with the gearing ratio

Maybe not that big of a difference but the number of places that will service and have Cummins parts far outperforms the amount that have Detroit and paccar parts.....that was my reasoning for getting a truck with a Cummins

I currently run a few isx's and am very happy with performance especially after the smoke detectors are eliminated. That being said my mechanic now parks his escalade where his ford ranger used to sit.. Are these newer engines holding together better?

    Both 18 speeds, 11R24.5 , 3.91 46,000 lbs rears.
Maybe break in period, X15 is only 4 months old.

That could be it! Also they both have different power curves. So if the driver shifts at a particular rpm that's maximizes power on one engine it may not have the same power curve at that rpm on the other engine.

    X15 all year long.

Depends on how you have the computer specs setup far as power. The X15 has been very reliable.

I thought they discontinued the DD16...?

So unless your buying used you can’t get one anyways
