Why do I keep having dreams of me driving lmfao every time I feel freaked out because I could’ve sworn I stopped for the night, “no, I’m gonna violate the hos; holy crap I just rolled my truck, etc”

To continue the non political discussion I have to respectfully disagree; in theory this is the way it’s supposed to work (I made a very short summary of elected officials but cut it short due to the long post and you summed it up nicely), but does one honestly not ever turn on the news and wonder if this man or woman wearing a fancy multi thousand dollar suit, mansion for a house, finger pointing grand standing person is the right person to represent you other than yourself? Nobody honestly doesn’t feel a bit alienated? My theory was and is we don’t live in the days of paper ballots and/or voting directly by a show of hands, it’s the electronic age and giving the people more power with their vote by bringing their own proposals to the floor and not some elected official would be as close to freedom and democracy as you can get while still keeping the government efficient; congress merely acting as a funnel for all of the people’s bills/votes and voting yay or nay based off of what the people want, not the elected official. But this is merely my honest opinion and everyone is clearly entitled to their own, no political agenda from this 21 year old young man lol I’m going back to bed now

Go read and study the Federalist papers.

This line of thinking is what is being taught in our schools, and goes against everything that made the USA a great nation.

It's supposed to be a long, hard, difficult process to pass law at the federal level. In fact, it was originally designed to be more combative than it is now. Until the XVII Amendment, the senate was elected by the state legislatures, it was the voice of the states. So in order for legislation to get through, it had to pass the will of the states, as well as the people. Now, it only has to pass the will of the people, since senators are popularly elected. That's one of the biggest mistakes this country ever made.

Another big problem we have, is that the federal government has been turned upside down. Ask most people what the most powerful body is, they will probably say the Supreme Court, with some saying the presidency. The real big problem, is this is how the federal government has been acting for decades.

In reality, the House of Representatives is the most powerful body, made so because it is the direct representation of the people. Follows is the Senate, designed to be a more deliberative, intellectual body than the House, and giving representation to the states, so that the people couldn't run roughshod over the states. Then the Presidency, whose job, is to enforce the will of the nation. The legal powers of the executive branch, outside of what congress authorizes it, are very few. Lastly, the Supreme Court, which only has the power to decide if a law is constitutional, but has been allowed, literally, to write it's own fiat law for decades, with no check on its power whatsoever.

This is the big picture problem with our government today. We've allowed it to be turned upside down from the way it was designed to function.

What you're proposing would lead to what we call mob rule, thats slang for tyranny of the majority. It has never ended well, in any society where it has taken hold.

Apologies I didn’t explain what I mean very well, but not mob rule, in short nothing changes besides that single aspect; if the majority of the Representative’s or senator’s constituents votes for or against a bill then that rep or senator has to vote with his sector of constituents, thus keeping the Electoral College intact; everyone runs on healthcare, national debt, pro abortion or anti, etc; aren’t there smaller and equally important things out there that gets overlooked in the grand scheme of things?

Well I do enjoy a good conversation on civics, I’ll be sure to look into exactly what you mean before I agree or disagree, problem with my idea is the country is riddled with idiots and there would have to be a separate body of intellectuals to give recommendations; I find it hard to trust people who’s made a mockery of our congress; now I’ll shut up before @MACK E-6 has to ban me lol

Dunn, NC. Waiting on a load. If I had known this I’d have stayed home another day or two.
