Oversized loads, items needed

Ive seen some guys,use a hose clamp to mount flags on their hood mirrors. Other guys have flag pole brackets on their front bumper that were obviously fabricated.. Im sure u could figure something out.. U can zip tie license plate into the grill so its not covered by the sign

 

Some drivers will bungee the front flags to the mirror brackets.

 

Have lots of flags, Just drill the holes in your hood. Doesn't take long to put a few brackets on the trailer.Get the biggest flags. Extra lights are good too.

 

I have fold-up signage on the front and rear bumpers. On the trailer I use flags with the wooden dowel that goes into my holder. As for the machine or object either bungee or magnet the red flag. For the front of the truck I have a permanent flag that I just roll up or unroll when not in use.

 

Sometimes, mostly, you only need flags on the widest part of the load. Not necessarily on the ends/sides of the truck.

It should be listed in the permits. Do you really need to worry about flags on the truck? Alot of people put them on the truck because they have holders for flags installed on the truck and it just works out anyway.

Do you have enough dunnage to make a bulkhead on the back of the trailer to support the sign? You can fly it on the load instead, usually.

 

Never put flags on my truck, except NM, they want 6 front of truck and trailer and rear of trailer. Lights aren’t required in most states. Just make sure you have one for tractor and one for trailer, you need a sticker to run lights in GA.($2.00)
Carry a extra sign and flags.
Get a good permit service, if you can’t afford a permit service your hauling too cheap.

 

buy a lot of zip ties and be ready to use them.
If you can put 1/4 inch bolts backwards through your bumper with nuts tight to hold them on the bumper and then use wing-nuts to hold your licence plate on so that you can move it to the grill with zip-ties or just move it to the bottom bolt holes if it can hold the sign/banner. Drilling a 1/8 hole in the wings will allow you to use a "mini bungee" cord between to lock the nuts from vibration.
"Rookie sticks" or Bumper Guides are a great place to mount flags on the front of your tractor if needed.
10 inch tall pipe stakes in the back pockets allow you to stack 2x4's or 4x4s to hold a rear banner/sign.

 

Just use a rubber bungee. If you can put a bolt through a hole then you can fit an s-hook though it. No need to complicate things...

 

Nevada needs a permit too ($2.00) and you apply online and when approved print out the permit online too.
