I'll try to make this as short as possible....

When switched to parking lights - only clearance lights are constantly on. No side markers or front parking lights. Turn signals still work

When switched to headlamp - all lights work as they should.

    Now the twist.

This is affecting both the tractor and trailer connected or disconnected. I replaced the switch....no fix. When checking the pigtail....
Switched to parking lamps - white - grounded
Brown - grounded black - powered
Switched to headlamps - white - grounded
    Brown- powered black- powered

I recently connected to another companies trailers which are older model than my company's and when connected all my lights worked exactly as they should in all positions but only when connected to those trailers.

All lights are LED except for front marker lights.

Also to contradict info above, when switched to parking lights my tractor taillights I noticed do actually light up constant but extremely dim.

Go through the inside and outside fuse boxes carefully. Make sure all fuse and relay locations on the label have good fuses installed and in the correct location. Also check the relays. The fuse box has a white outline around the relay location, some of the smaller relays can be accidentally installed outside of the correct position.

Missing fuses are common. From there a wiring schematic and some troubleshooting will be needed. Inspect chassis harness wiring for rubs and shorts below the cab behind the LH fender/step and chassis node module.

The rear tail light being on very dim is just an indication that the key is on or that the door is open. Probably only lighting up a couple of the LED’s in the taillights, seems to be standard on pete’s since at least 2012.

The tailight glow is residual voltage from the chassis node. Its not enough to cause any kind of battery drain and will only light LED tailights. I do have a fix for this if anyone is interested I can share on Monday.

Boss has a 2012 389 I drove for a month last year. It gave me all kinds of lighting problems . When sitting running with park lights on headlights would go on spells of flashing strobe like emergency vehicle. Headlights would go dim going down the road and finally quit. Markers were doing strange things too. Took it to dealer and 2 other shops and finally replace body control module? About 1400bucks in parts. Problem solved.

Chassis node under truck on driver frame rail. Nothing could damage a module down there right??

That is where it was located alright. Pretty well protected from physical abuse. Maybe it was mental abuse that got it, but I think some sort of electrical spike took it out. The driver before me was running it without a clutch brake so he was leaving it parked in gear. I went to pick it up and from the ground slapped the shift boot and thought it was in neutral. Hit the key and it just clicked. I hit it a second time and same thing. Then I woke up and realized what going on. From that time forward until module was changed it had an abundance of mysterious lighting gremlins and got progressively worse over a 10 day period until headlights same as went out about 4am. Glad I was empty.
