I just got access to this older step, maybe 15 or so years old. I am cleaning it up and getting it back on the road, it has been sitting. I noticed the other day that the rub rail is solid and my strap flat hooks won't go through stake pockets so there appears to be no choice but to go over the rail? sorta sucks

Mine showing a pic of the rail.?
Not sure I've even seen one like that.. -
Do you mean that there is no “rub rail” and spools / stake pockets?
All of our curtain sides are like that if so.

I believe that he is speaking of the solid /integrated rail that is the whole side is a one piece extrusion and has the pockets cut into a solid top.
A company I pulled for bought a couple of these as flats and they had many chain pull-ups

yea no open rail and spools, solid extrusion. it does have chain pull ups, but the straps have to go over and hook where my hand is best i can see

so you have to put the straps over the side?650cat425 Thanks this.

Fixed winches, no rubrail, tarp hooks. Looks like a typical west coast/northwest lumber hauling setup to me. If you’re hauling any and everything get used to using hand ratchets. Fixed winches are fine for building materials, but they suck for spot market freight. IMO.basedinMN_, 650cat425, Speed_Drums and 1 other person Thank this.
