I've read about the junk trailers and what not at CT, but didn't really see anything else bad and I haven't seen anything bad about XPO. I applied and got calls back from both. Would one be better than the other?

XPO for sure. Not a bad place to work. Main reason I quit XPO was my hour commute to and from work each day. I misjudged how bad that sucks.

The other bad thing I’ve heard about CT is that they work you to death. Just finished a 600 mile linehaul run? Perfect, you’ve got 3 hours left on your 14 to work the dock!

XPO seems like a decent company, probably most similar to FxF out of all the other LTLs.

I dunno, but around here they advertise $30/hr to work the dock. As long as they pay, I'll play. For me the hour commute to and from work would be the problem

XPO has driver facing cams. The barn you would be out of dictates work opportunities and environment. CT overall is a low end LTL company. You will work all your available hours. They still didn't have direct deposit as of May of this year. You will probably slip seat, most of their equipment is trashed inside and out, even the newer stuff. XPO can be micromanagers in terms of your production and there's a lot of rumors flying around that Brad Jacobs wants out from under the LTL part of XPO (old Con Way) and has been sacrificing equipment and facility upkeep and replacement to pad profits to sell it off. Ask any driver who went through the XPO buyout of Con Way how that went and what their outlook is for another buyout.

That being said, I would go with XPO still. There are other good LTL s out there as well

I would also go with XPO over CT. You will start on the flex board, Insurance from day one and you top out after 3yrs. In the Kansas area the top out is $28.88hr. In September they are supposed to go to $29.32, I believe. They are starting at $22.00 in my area. Could be more where you are located. On the flex You will work the dock and run city and occasionally linehaul; You work the dock on linehaul as well, hook a set at your home terminal, drive to another terminal, work the dock there and then drive back. Your paid CPM and the hourly for your dock time. I don’t remember the starting CPM, I think around .52. Top out is .68CPM for doubles 2cent more for triples.

Talked with the XPO service center manager today via phone. If I pass my DMV tests tomorrow, I’ll be going up for an in-person interview on Monday.
