Been out of OTR since spring of 2010. Obviously a lot has changed but one thing I’ve read about is reserved parking at Truck Stops. Is the parking at the major fuel centers paid? Reservations on the honor system reserved ahead doesn’t seem like it would work. I can imagine waking up and reserving a spot 13 hours before you plan on being there. Help me out guys

I remember some paid parking in Dallas area for example but don’t remember thst being common in most areas. Assuming the carriers dont share any of that cost

TA, Petro, Flying J, and Pilot have reserve parking. It's not an honor system. When you reserve you pay at that moment. They do have free one's too.

If I know I am going to be stopping later in the evening during my preplan I will reserve during my break. I also use trucker path to see if the truck stop I am planning to stop at is predicted to be full.

    LoSt_AgAiN and akfisher Thank this.

When I travel I'll stop in midday and take my shower, then find a mom-pop to sleep at later that night

You open the truck stop app on your phone. You can pay/reserve a parking spot before you get to that truck stop. No refunds if you don't show up. Once at truck stop you pick any open reserved parking stop. Usually check at fuel desk and the give you a receipt to put in window. So if the check at night they don't wake you up thinking you did not pay. When sign up in the app you put you truck number and color MC number. So they can look in their system also to see if you truck is on their list of paid drivers

It started out as good idea but TA/Petro went crazy with it some of their truck stop are 50-70 % paid parking. The Petro in Effingham Illinois and Carlisle PA were always big parking lots. They are like 50% paid parking now. The charge from $13-$18 depending on how late you reserve a parking stop. Loves is all free like other post said.

That price would add up for sure. I liked loves but seem to remember their lots being smaller by far.

If you know you will be getting to a place after it will likely be full, reserved parking is very nice.
No honor system. If you reserve a spot, you will have your spot when you get there.
If you get there and there are no spots open, they will find the poacher and make the driver get out of the spot for you.

Places like TA/Petro in SoCal can get pretty expensive to reserve a spot, because they charge to park in the first place. Reserved parking is on top of the normal fee.

Reserved parking is also the prime up front parking spots.

It is always nice to know that I won't have to fight for a spot, or end cap, or park where I might get kicked out from.

I-84 Diner- Fishkill, NY has a big parking lot for free truck parking on I-84 in NY
Most of the Rest areas/Service areas in NY are free
Rose Garden Diner- Home cooked meals I-40 Silver point, TN Free Truck Parking
There is a dirt lot in Anderson, SC you can park at that is free to truckers if your traveling I-85. The Coordinates are 34.470602, -82.673470
Walmart in Casper, WY used to allow Overnight parking if your traveling out west.

Those are just a few off the top of my head that you can park at without problems.
