    He hooked at at the radio using my coax. He checked at the antenna by using his own coax. Got strange readings on my coax at first. Then after using his (where we got just "ok" readings because it was a very short piece of coax), we went back to mine and everything went back to normal. All this despite the fact that had bad readings on my Skipshooter and my new 102" antenna, and despite the fact that while installing the 102"and troubleshooting a couple nights before I visited with Ron, I took everything apart and put it back. Still had bad readings. No one knows why switching to his coax momentarily and then back to mine "fixed" it, but it did. Oh well. As long as it works then I get it back.

    Ok, how about the female connector on the back of the radio? The center pieces are all even, or is there one that's bent away from the center than the others?

    I would say it's a bad connector on your radio, or a bad solder joint somewhere inside the radio.

    Or you have a bad jumper you are using between the radio and the meter.

    If it was ok on radio side of it and meters/analyzer matched then tested on ant side and buggered up but then fine,i would think its ant side area issue....
    Did you test with door closed cause readings will differ with open n closed and when near power wires and large buildings n such..
    When testing did you have other antennas near by or was tech useing a step ladder and not move when testing....
    What kind of ant stud...Change it try again..100% sure there is no resistance between cab side of hinge and door side?

    Are you useing a stand alone 102"??
    Orrrr are you adding a riser or something??

    Speaking of solveing issues..I noticed my rec was not as good as usual..Grabbed the good ole analyzer..Yeap houston we have an issue..
    Did some minor cleaning here at my shipp/reciver and got a nice chance..Guess the weekend ill be given a good clean....
    Wrote down my dirty readings vs my clean..Nice difference..

    TAP TAP TAP..Pay attention...."evil snickers"

    At the moment, standalone 102". I'll eventually get a riser since I need to be longer anyway (SWR > on 40 than on 1).

    Door was closed every time we tested anything and we were in the middle of giant nearly empty parking lot. Empty because the stores weren't open yet.
    No step ladder. We were inside the truck or we were standing next to the antenna because of his short coax.
    Antenna stud is a heavy duty one; I had to widen the hole in the ProComm mount for the heavy-duty stud's washer to fit. I did so using a precision drill bit taking 1/64th of an inch of material each time. It' a perfectly round and smooth hole. No jagged edges or extra material hanging. You would think it came that way.

    A regular stud will no longer fit; it just falls right through. Don't have another heavy duty stud to play with, and they're expensive.

    Generally, if the SWR is higher on 40 than on 1, the antenna should be shortened if it is desired to get a lower SWR.

    Anything under 1.5:1 on all channels is generally accepted as OK.

    I have had only one very minor issue with the wilson hd alum style stud..$20 i think at the flyin j and pilot..

    I mentioned already that the center pin of your pl259 does not mate very well with the hollowed out head of the allen bolt used to attach the stud to mount..
    Wish i woulda recorded the results but what i end up doin was to take a small 1/4" strand of copper wire and ball it up to fill the hollowed out allen head bolt..By doing this you have a for sure connection to stud for ctr pin of pl259..
    I actually thought a small piece of tin foil but i have to give credit to rabbi for confirming my thought and suggesting the copper wire strand..
    If that dont fix or help then im thinkin try a fresh coax..
