Local Cartage company, bottom of the barrel, but taught Me a lot, in a short time. I left ASAP, but afterwards they grew into a decent paying outfit. With all their faults, I’m grateful to this day, for they’re help. Local gig without experience is hard, but not impossible to find.

back when i started, there just wasn't any sort of jobs for newbies out of school. we all basically had to go long-haul (OTR today).

if however you "knew someone" that could get you into a local job, you were lucky.

it's a phrase called, "paying your dues", and it is quite common actually in just about ever trade, vacation out there.

get on the road, for about at least 6 months, winter is coming, you'll get winter driving time. maybe by spring time, you can try applying for local jobs.
