I'm not a real big Montana guy. There's a couple agents that get stuff that will get you out, but I'm just not that spellbound with Montana.

I'll go for enough money.

 

A bond in the amount of $2,000. Bond company underwrote it for $200.

If your truck is registered in Oregon you're required to have a weight mileage tax license. Since they don't include fuel tax at the pump for commercial vehicles, they wanna make sure they get their money

 

If you want to buy the annual permit and file your miles after the fact you have to post a bond. When you give them the routing for your trip permit you pay your miles up front.

 

If you post a bond and report your miles monthly you must file the report even if you have no OR miles that month. And if you end up not running out there anymore you can’t just stop filing with them and decide you’re not buying a permit for the following year. Your account will be jacked up 6 ways to Sunday to the point they won’t let you buy a trip permit.

 

So its actually $200 and a bond company will put it up for me? Then I have to file some form every month to keep everything good? Sorry I am very confused about Oregon and plan to be running there often.

 

Just click on the link I posted above. All those answers are provided. But yes, for $200 a bond company will underwrite a $2,000 bond. And yes, you are required to file a monthly mileage report for all miles run in Oregon, including the road tax payment.

 

Yep there is never anything leaving here montana going east. It is all local stuff moving around . Plenty of lumber moving south to utah and idaho , even arizona but it dont pay well for the most part... the agent i work with in my company she has great direct freight with a good amount of shippers in montana, only way ive been able to stay making money up here...

 

For whatever reasons, Uber freight has a few $2+ per mile loads out of the PNW going across country. Not sure I really trust Uber right now because I think they're on the brink of bankruptcy, but it is what it is. There is one to FL for over $6500 and one to LA for over $5000.

 

Oregon is really particular about their permit. Last time I checked into it, I was told you have to have your paperwork BEFORE you hit the POE, otherwise expect a fine. (Same in New Mexico, btw) However, I am not familiar with their temporary permit, or its process. And yes, their stupid permit requires a stupid bond to stupidly waste more of your time and money. Not that I'm bitter...
