So since I am in the hunting process I will update you guys as I go.
Firstly, it appears no one is actually replying to those 'email blast' applications, the ones you fill out at a third party website and they send it to many cos at once. Yeah, not a single call back on that, as opposed to two years ago where every co called back. So I would not waste your time. You are going to have to be ready to INDIVIDUALLY fill out each company application. Also note we were both terminated in 12/2008 from Werner.
Our Driving Record:
Him
10 years (1999-2009) Exp
No Hazmat
10 jobs in the last 10 years, 3 jobs in the last 5 years.
No at-fault accidents.
No tickets.
Me
18 months (06/2007-12/2008) Expierence
9 Months since last driving position
No Hazmat.
2 jobs last 3 years.
1 ticket (10 MPH over)
1 'non dot recordable' accident.
The following companies seem to either not be hiring:
CRST Van - Called recruiting no answer 4x, filled out online app, called again, no answer just continuous holding. When I finally did get someone she stated they had received the application, that is the last I heard from them. We clearly meet their requirements.
CR England - Called recruiting more then 10 times, never got an answer. Filled out online application, no answer to it either.
YRC - No return on either application.
We thought about going O/O to make life easier. We discovered that several co's have turned off their O/O lease program. Including:
Freymiller
Heartland
The following companies have declined due to my laspe in driving time:
Freymiller
Florilli
Con-way
PTL
The following companies, after seeing our DAC's vetted us anyway and are hiring:
FFE
Gainey
O& S (lease)
Interstate
We currently have pending applications at:
Roehl
Cal-ark
And finally, the following companies declined due only to our termination at Werner.
Central Refrigerated

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Best advice, find another line of work. Trucking has become the bottom of the barrel. Low pay, crappy conditions. You would do better in any other line of work. Go to school and get into a career with a future.

If you honestly sit back and read your resume, from a recruiters point of view, what do you think ? Nothing personal and I hope you get a good team operation, but words like fired, ticket, accident, and so many jobs in so many years........ Good Luck..

I feel your pain!
I have applied to so many companies that I am writing them all down now because I have lost track.
I have a clean license, my last OTR was early 90's. My most recent experience is 3 years ago, I drove local for 7 months.
I have got you don't meet our requirements.
We are not hiring in your area.
It is crazy. This industry has changed so much.
Good luck to you! -
I do not remember posting an 'why am i not getting hired' post so really your comment is not needed.
I posted the driving history so someone can see what background the cos I am applying for are accepting/denying. Firstly, I have only been denied ONE job because of my background, Central, whose recruiter basically said they hire no one whom has a recent termination regardless of reason.
Every other co had no issue with my one NON PREVENTABLE accident and the nearly 3 year old ticket 81 in a 75 ticket.
My biggest hurdle has been, and continues to be my barely 18 months experience, and the 9 months since I last drove. Not my driving record. -
You are so right, that explains alot, accept my apologies, and The Best Of Luck to you .

This may hurt some peoples feelings but your statement is 100% true. I used to hold my head up about being a driver but am ashamed to have to admit it at times anymore. The pay is absolutely horrible for the amount of time gone away from home. Companies are wringing every ounce of blood out they can get because of the pin-head yuppie go-getters and micro managers at the helms of many companies. If you enjoy crap for pay, being away from home, getting treated like dirt overall then truckload trucking is for you. Now that the private carrier job I had moved to China and I had to go with a truck load type carrier I feel absolutely lost. I am now earning what I earned in the early eighties and staying gone longer to do it. I pray to be in shape for early retirement in 2-3 more years. If I sound bitter that's probably because I am. This industry is gone.onetime42, LadyDallasDriver and halfburn Thank this.

Imagine being a commercial airline pilot, and having to admit to your friends you're now making less than $55k a year. And you had to sell your house, because you could no longer afford it...or the car.
Heard that one today, on Dave Ramsey. -
Ugh....please don't remind me. No matter how bad you make it sound it still doesn't do it any justice. Everything that you stated is absolutely true. I'm starting a tanker job in about a week and I keep telling myself, "everything's going to be alright". .39 cpm sounds great but I doubt the miles are going to be there.

JB Hunt is hiring in your area for l/p IROC. I know it is JB Hunt but if they take you it could mean a new start.
