nope - you don’t get it.

lowboy trier are built completely different than regular flatbed trailers - they typically have 4 beams and very close together Cross members to support highly concentrated weigh loads that are moved on the deck. Flatbeds are built for either distributed loads like lumber or shingles or concentrated loads that don’t move (loaded by forklift or crane) like coils using extra cross members in a small section of the trailer.

a typical flat may weigh 10,000 lbs empty an entry level 35 ton rated lowboy will be over 20,000 lbs empty. The higher the weight rating the more the trailer will weigh. My 65 ton trailer weighs about 50,000 lbs empty

Depends. You definitely can put that much weight on a flatbed and way more. Your normally not gonna put it on the outter rails. 60 ton of steel is nothing for a trailer built for it.

More than once seen 50 on a 5 axle. Thats a spread axle trailer tandem tractor.

My trailer is rated for 110k or 55 ton. 2 axles and short. 25 years old. No comparison to newer stuff.

    In that case you've seen things I haven't and I'll defer. :)

Its just a different world. You can't load a standard flatbed with weight concentration similar to a rgn/lowbow. Nor could you load a rgn/lowboy like a flatbed.

These other guys can tell you more about those trailers than I can.

Was minding my business this morning, drinking a coffee and a broker I never worked with before called me on my truck. How much do they pay to see carriers that just did a search and where they searched? I threw out my "don't want to put pants on and ruin my 3 day weekend rate", and he countered 3 bills lower as I guess it was the max loss he could take? Just popped the valves and back at home.

But dear God 50,000lbs. Oh my I'm having a stroke.

Mine rated for 55 ton weighs 10,000 with sidekit, chains, tarps, lumber, and any other odd gear. Holly sheet.

    Thanks for sharing.
