Pandemic, many out of work.. no sporting events concerts etc but freight through the roof and rates going higher and higher... Screenshot_20200829-113027_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20200829-095932_Chrome.jpg

Soo what's really going on here?

My guess less new drivers coming in.
Classroom then out with trainer and training doesn't sound appealing during a pandemic.
Have heard some DMVs , trucking schools still closed.
Then you have people fine with collecting unemployment...

I bet the switch to more online ordering vs people going to stores has something to do with it as well.

Trucking isn't affected by a recession, except in a few specialty segments.
Even so, there's plenty of jobs for truckers, during the best and worst of times.

Yeah but China you and I both know when there is a glut of drivers no matter what amount of work is available, it drives down the rates.

    Trucker61016 and Chinatown Thank this.

I'm o/o leased pulling automotive parts mostly, Ontario Canada to USA, i was shut down for 3 months but since they opened in July i'm moving very well. But, i can't see bright future for this kind of freight, people are buying basics, properties out of town, RVs not new cars.

We have been super busy, more than we can get to. It’s good paying also.
In my opinion, the economy as a whole is doing really well. There are certain sectors that are really hurting though. A fair amount of our work is tied to the entertainment industry, that industry is completely dead. Luckily other sectors are doing better than normal, and that has more than filled the void.

I disagree. As an O/O I feel that there is no shortage of drivers. The megas are just saying that to employ more drivers. To hurt the little guys even more. If anything we have an over abundance of drivers.

I agree there is too many drivers, especially those fly by night wanting to be an O/O tomorrow.

Until you actually hire drivers, your view on this is skewed.
