i just purchesed an older kw with 3406b fuel was nasty brown gummy stuff in bottom of tanks cleaned em out some times it starts some times wont ya must give it one drop of starting fluid in air to air runs great or seems to I put a fuel gauge in plug on top of primary filter base on motor the moment ya turn it off fuel pressure falls from 45 pounds to zero in 4 or five seconds and wont start sumtime if sets all night it starts but cranks four or five seconds first
-
any thoughts surly would appreciate any advice ty

That gum in the bottom of the tanks is in that injection pump too. Specifically in the plungers which the rack bar controls. It needs gone through
-
is it normal for fuel to fall away that fast or is that due to the stuff hanging up in the plungers and rack sticking alowing fuel to run away that quick ?
-
How do you know the fuel is draining back?
If that rack bar cant get to the start position it will spin with no start till hell comes home. With that gunk you could also have check valves in the lift pump dried out as well as the hand pump. -
Ty very much 4 the reply not sure fuel is running away from transfer pump cleaned it out check valves seem to be working can't suck nothing back thru transfer pump but soon as I turn engine off fuel pressure on out bound side of primary filter falls immediately to zero and again ty

I removed fuel celinoid felt rack control felt like not coming allway back removed small round cover 2 7/16 bolts and pushed rack back with finger and started instantly would it be safe to remove fuel fittings in top of pump and fill with a cleaner of sorts( solvent) set a couple days remove injector lines from top of pump and crank it over and pump it out then reinstall lines and restart?
