No big trucks allowed on NY "Parkways" stay away...

 

Jon, I've run both routes, albeit many moons ago, but if possible, I always avoided trying either during "rush hour", 6:30-10AM. Also, I'd listen up on the CB as I crossed the TZB to see if there were any current backups on either route. The 87-95 cross bronx "corkscrew" was usually the worse one for that, but not always. The first route (87-95) I gave you was the shortest, but often subject to "backups". The second route (287-95) is longer, but mostly avoids the Bronx and less chance of being backed up. Scenery on both suck I might add, and don't stop until you clear that hellhole, LOL.

Of course that was back when everyone had a CB and used it.

 

On the way down to Scranton to the doc, DOT is out in force. Making up for lost revenue. Last week the owego coop was open at midnight according to trucker path

Yup, I refuse to acknowledge it as that. It'll always be known as the chimp to me. His father was a dip stick, but the son is a real tool, absolute dictator...

when i was doing food service I used to go from Roc center in midtown out to the JFK service plaza at 7am. Fun fun fun on the van wyck.

And the other run I did had me coming back from Ronkonkoma at 7am fighting the rush all the way out

That reminds me of one.

Had a new dispatcher at the wrecker service. In days before hand-helds. Cleared a wreck, guy radios in when he is back in the truck available. Ask dispatch if they had any traffic. Now the prospective of the other lady in the office was the best. She tell the story better. Lady got up, walk to the office window looking out. Went back to the radio and said "its pretty normal". Radio silence.
