Attention all company drivers!!!

#### this is very interesting ..........and confusing..............now what do i do

 

safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/CompanySnapshot.aspx - Is a good website to know it lists the number of power units a company has and the milies a company runs Divide power units into miles and you have average miles per truck per year divide yearly miles by 52 and you can get an idea of what your weekly average would be. This site is goverment run No B.S. Also lists a companies safety rating safe companies are general okay to work for

 

the mileages reported are reported by the companys so could be inaccurate

 

Believe it or not i started at the beginning of this thread and read it all the way through. As a trucker for sixteen years i cant say much has changed. Most of the big companies could care less about drivers because they care about profits. Now i should be carefull because this does not relate to all companies but it does relate to the ones you see bad reports on this forum.

As I am a driver and also have been an owner myself i can relate to both sides. From the company's view you are simply a device in the chain that allows them to be in buisness. In order to get to where you want to go the chain must operate smoothly. In other words every driver, dispatcher, manager, recruiter, mechanic, secretary, and truck must work at peak in order to keep you operating to reach your goal. If a link in the chain is not working properly it effects the entire chain and failure is certain.

So the bigger the chain the faster you go. In other words large companies cannot afford to have a weak or broken link.

OK so I just weirded every one out with the last paragraph. My point here is this is how these companies really do think. You are a link in the chain and nothing more. There are too many links in a large chain to even bother trying to fix just one link. So the easy solution is to just eliminate the link and replace it with a new one. After all there are plenty of links (drivers) in this economy to replace it with.

That is the thinking of the big companies. No matter what they say or do it is mostly lies that they are feeding you. If YOU were a chairman of a large company and you were wanting to make big money for you and your shareholders you could care less about peoples feelings and worry more about profits.

In this economy it makes more sense to hire new drivers every two weeks and pay them allot less then then Veterans. That's big buisness and that's the facts. One thing for sure in these bad times. Your either a low paid driver that's doing well or a high paid driver that gets no miles. There is no sense in sugarcoating the truth.

Now on the other side is you and me the drivers. We try hard and do our best to fit in. Why cant these companies understand that we are better for them. We have more expierence, we are safer, we love what we do, and we want to be loyal to a company. Lets face it it is in our nature. We are after all truck drivers and we want to be proud of the company we work for. We want them to be happy with us and we will run our #####'s off for them. The reason is simple. Profits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is cheaper to drive garbage trucks and trailers and it is easier to hire and train new drivers than keep the old ones.

It's that simple folks. We are meat and simply a means to their profit. As soon as the meat becomes stale they discard it.

I love driving and i am proud to be a trucker. I am ashamed of this buisness and how this companies treat us. However i am smart enough to realize that there is some good out there.

Yes there are good companies and plenty of them. Sure there are companies with the owner who once started the company from behind the wheel. They are out there and you need to find them. Research a company long and hard before you decide to go there. Tell that company who and what you are all about. Tell them you are a truck driver who loves to drive. Tell them how much they want a driver like you.

Even in this economy these companies are out there and feeding off the mistakes of the big boys. It will get better some time soon and the small dedicated company will always thrive. Keep your head up and pound the pavement to find these companies.

Oh and lastly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The big Scum of the world will still be around mopping up whats left of driver scrap when the smoke clears. Scum will always be Scum and profits are what the Scum wants. Good or bad economy!!!!!!!!!!!

hello rusty nail here i dont doubt carolina cargo reads this. they pay a whooping 10cents a mile and expect drvrs 2 run illegal if you go off route they fine you but the consignee will call you asking you 2 go off route. they lied 2 me said i would make 800to 1000dollars awk. got on the road find out im making 10cents a mile. i drove from s.c. 2 salt lake 2 idaho in dec. in a blizzard with newmonia.then 2 richamond va. back 2 s.c. iturned in my truck and quit. thats 2 yrs ago and i have never been paid a penny but they had the balls 2 put me on the d.a.c. record. stay away from these crooks. or you will be sorry

 

YES, we've ALL driven sick at one time or another, its the nature of the beast in our profession. I did a JIT load once for FEDX (500mi run), and had to pull over 5 times cause in the end the doctor told me what you call "Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever"(my temp of 103 kept me warm tho).

Stomach flips, dizzy, couldnt even keep a glass of liquid down, it was no picnic. We are sick of our company, sick of our dispatcher, sick of low mileage, sick of having to leave home...sicksicksick. BUT, we're the BEST drivers in the world, and S.I.C.K(StomachInerdsComewithKnots.), is part of the game, they dont wanna hear it JUST Deliver IT(sad)...excuse me,I gotta go throwup.

NO freaking way in HELL I'd even turn the key in one of their trucks! I'd laugh in their ear on the phone if any company were to tell me something that stupid! And YOU took the deal! DUDE! WTF were you thinking? You couldn't be that hungry OR desperate! Heck I'm on unemployment with 30+ years of experience and filing bankruptcy and I wouldn't even take that pathetic amount of money!

You people need to get it together and REFUSE to work for these companies who are taking advantage of us drivers telling us WE need to take a pay cut while they live high on their hog! Rates didn't fall that much! It's the brokers taking MORE off of the given rate as they can't get as many loads and they don't want to give up making more that the very people who MAKE the money for them!

Ten cents a mile. I NEVER drove for that even back in the 70's!

 

I hope they read this. I just wasted time that they could have been taking care of your drivers.

oh yah I am soooo sorry I took time off to go back to school now I am returning to the industry it is a crying shame I can not find a trucking job. After 7 years of driving. Are companys intimidated by a vetern driver with a an almost degree? I have a year left and i will finish online. Very sarcastic yes. I am just tired of all the no's I have been getting. Does anybody have any info on TransAm or GSTC trucking. Looking 4 a new job need some advice. Thanx
