Hello all,
I’m a company driver, with the goal of eventually going owner-op. I’ve heard that it’s wise to establish an LLC early to build some history with it.
My question is this. I know it’s illegal for a company to pay an employee as a contractor (1099), but has anyone - as a company driver, been paid to their LLC, and if so, how?
Thanks!

Unless the LLC is actually going to be doing business it's going to be a moot point. What you need to do is build up a credit history for the LLC by doing business.
You actually set up payroll for yourself just like for any employee if that's the way you're going to do it. A single member LLC pay taxes just like a DBA or any other self-employed person.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
Not true.
No you can’t do the llc to be paid for working as an employee for a company, you would have to be a 1099 contractor. -
If you are a company driver(W-2) then the company will be deducting the necessary taxes and SS. If you have them pay to your LLC, then you pay yourself as an employee, you would legally then be required to deduct the taxes and SS again. You would be double taxing your earnings. Don't see the point.
