So I talk to the recruiter from May trucking company. She explained to me that I would be paid a flat rate of $115 per day no matter what but my mileage pay would be $.38 a mile with additional safety bonuses at 8K, 9K and 10Kmiles. The difference of the mileage paid and the flat rate pay would be paid out on the first check of the following month if I was to make more in mileage than I did with the flat rate. Has anyone ever been paid in this way before?

No, but they do that in order to keep a steady paycheck coming in every week.ThomasTrucker21 Thanks this.

At some point or another wouldn’t you end up losing money?
-
How? Sounds like they're paying the daily flat rate when you're on the road, available for dispatch, whether you drive any miles or not. They're adding any extra money the following week(s) not deducting.
-
Is that a joke? I wouldn’t even get out of bed for $115
magoo68, Speed_Drums and 86mechanic Thank this. -
May Trucking is an entry level training company.

if I end up driving more than 1800 miles in a week I don’t get any of that money on that check. You don’t see It until the first check of that next month
-
Well, $115 guaranteed pay per day whether you drive or not is not minimum wage. But, whatever. I have no idea what minimum wage even is these days anyways.

If you use every hour of your driving time that’s $10/ hour
