Got us a hot load out of Cali. Apparently there's a power plant in GA that's broke down, and waiting on a part to get back up and running.
Now off to the Outpost Cafe for breakfast before we brave LA again.

Any time I have a wheel off, I always retorque within 100 miles or 1 heat cycle. Sometimes they never budge, and other times they can take up to a 1/2 turn? After that the chrome goes back on and I just watch for streaks.Swine hauler, 1951 ford, 650cat425 and 11 others Thank this.

Anyone ever hauled anything for Menards? Just curious if there is any good / bad experience with them?
Friend got a call wanting him to do some hauling to stock stores, said they require 2 dry vans.Swine hauler, 1951 ford, 650cat425 and 9 others Thank this. -
I deliver to dc's, but from what what others have told me, their flatbed loads aren't worth it - takes forever to load, and multiple store stops. Dropped vans might be a better fit?

I can’t imagine someone making a living doing it. I’ve done a few flatbed loads for them over the years but thy are pretty close to the bottom of what I would haul as a back haul.
They do pay and I’ve always got unloaded quickly at the stores but getting loaded can literally take all day.
I’ve found the rates just worse than mediocre.Swine hauler, 1951 ford, 650cat425 and 11 others Thank this. -
My understanding from my friend, the van is loaded and waiting, when you get there drop the empty and grab the loaded trailer and take off..... at least that’s what they are telling him.Swine hauler, 1951 ford, 650cat425 and 11 others Thank this. -
I did some with a van. They're not bad people to work with. Some products had to be tailgated, like appliances. Easy though, their store docks are always down a ramp and they let us use their dollies. Anything palletized they unload with a forklift. Never took them long, maybe an hr at the store if there was another truck already in the dock, which isn't often.

Yeah, that's the way they run. D/H at the DC, live unload at stores. Never had an issue at any DC.
-
They deal a lot with big companies that can drop a hundred trailers at a DC, so that's what I'd expect as well.

They unload or driver unload?650cat425, Eldiablo, jamespmack and 5 others Thank this.
