I was there in '06. Just about every exit on their "Motorways" had a roundabout. Took some getting used to, for sure. I kept wanting to go to the wrong way around. Of course I was in a car, not a truck, but they mostly looked like they could accommodate the size trucks, I mean lorries, they have over there.
Maybe someone knows the answer.

Roundabouts are great for cars. Much more efficient compared to 4-way stops. There are a couple near Eglin AFB, and the Florida DOT is incorporated one at the north end of our new 6-lane bay bridge. Hope it works as well as the ones near Eglin.
Also, one of rock’s most awesome bass lines.

Biggest problem we have is driver's ed, or lack thereof. A lot of the country doesn't even have it, or require it. I'm an absolute hands on learner who was worthless in a classroom but some things ya gotta have some training in! 4 wheelers sharing the road with 80k trucks should be one of them.not4hire, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 1 other person Thank this.

Think aliens have something to do with this. Concrete crop circles. Haha
This particular one is bad because they went crazy with the curbs. So to make this right turn coming off the interstate you have to decide whether to curb a steer or a trailer.

What is there to clarify? A vw van has been water cooled from 83 on. Also, as it was driving by and I was more concerned about about the co-worker that was just hit, I wasn't paying too much attention to the exact make of the vw looking van.singlescrewshaker Thanks this.

The county put one in out in farm county near hear. It's literally impossible to got the 80 foot spray booms through that intersection now so the farmers simply drive straight across it. The county tried putting huge boulders in the center of the circle, in a farm area.... That lasted until planting season when someone simply pushed them out of the way and continued using the intersection.singlescrewshaker and alds Thank this.

Glad I chose to finish reading before I posed the same question. Lol. Patiently waiting on the explanation.singlescrewshaker Thanks this.

How is it cheaper to put in a roundabout, as opposed to simply erecting a stop sign or a traffic light, especially at an intersection with a flashing light already?singlescrewshaker and 650cat425 Thank this.

Yeah the modern version is being claimed by wikipedia but this version were invented back in the early 20th century here, there is a great article in one of the traffic trade journals from the 40’s which breaks down the history and different configurations used for traffic control, I have to see if I can find it in my collection.singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this.
