Just curious what it's like doing US runs from Can right now with Covid & all the riots going on? I know a lot of OTR guys that are refusing to cross right now.

What kind of precautions do you take with covid concerns?

None. Run to the states five nights a week.

Haven't seen any riots at the truck stops. :|

Little has changed. Many shippers have taken steps to limit contact which in most cases actually makes things easier though ymmv.

Crossing the border is a breeze with only essential traffic.

I pack a bit more food than I used to and eat out less but that's really the only difference.

It's business as usual but a little faster without all the cars clogging bridges. My only real PITA is the NY crossings wanting to open every trailer and wasting time.

They must have too much time on their hands. Detroit doesn't hassle us at all.

They do. Lots of staff, no passenger traffic. Same thing at Pembina.

I cross at Buffalo or Lewiston 2 or 3 times a week and have never been asked to open my doors. Even the few times crossing at Alex Bay.

Word of caution. And I’m sure this all depends on which border officer you speak to. But I broke down in escanaba, mi last week. Had to get towed to Sault mi then drive my truck with a broken rocker arm and a puked out injector over the border. Was informed tow trucks are not deemed essential! I for one will not be crossing again till this crap clears up.

Here to tell you, there’s two supervisors at Sault. One is ok with it. One isn’t. I experienced it first hand.

Surprising, two weeks ago had my truck towed across the border at lewiston by a Canadian wrecker without a single issue. Cost the company an arm and a leg, but the driver was telling me he crosses with rigs several times a week.
