I'm getting to be the same way. I'm actually looking through the classifieds regularly for a late 70's to late 80's GMC/Chevy pickup to play with this spring. A guy down the street has a nice one for sale. New 383 stroker, brand new 700R4, new diffs, completely rebuilt suspension (springs and all). Needs some interior work though. Another guy a friend knows has a RCSB early 2000s Sierra with a turbo 6.0L he's selling. They both want just over $20k for the trucks. I'm a little weird about buying someone else's project. I don't wanna be the guy who buys performance, I wanna be the guy who builds performance.

Yeah, I tried to navigate the FLC build run on wikipedia, but some times the info is incorrect..
Don't know what to trust..
Your Dad's '90 FLC still had body color paint between the two windshields, right.? That in my limited knowledge opinion is a dead giveaway that its not a Classic. That's an FLC in my opinion..
I thought the FLD Classic appeared in '91.? Thus making a Series 60 factory powered FLC a pretty rare find as '90 maybe an '89 might have offered it. Purely speculation on my part..
Aluminum hood same size as a glass hood.? Maybe you could toss one onto a '90 & hang some single or double round headlights on there..

More than 1 way to play the game I guess. If buying a permit to be exempted from the rules isnt the definition of a money grab, then I have no idea what is lol.
Here's how I see situations like his. Let's say there's him and another WE driver hauling that same load to the same place. He runs to the state line and stops, driver B says "screw it" and keeps rolling. Driver B unloads 1st thing Tues morning. Dispatcher says "awesome man, I got this great load 25mi away for ya going 800mi, so you'll get paid pretty good". FJ gets up there Tues afternoon, unloads and the dispatcher says "cool man. I dont have anything for ya right now, give me till tomorrow and I'll see what I can do". The next morning, FJ gets his load assignment, its a load with 120mi dh, that goes 187mi. FJ runs it and then the next load is just as crappy. Then they don't have anything for him for 24hrs, so he sits around and finally gets a decent run that pays him decent. Meanwhile that other driver has run that 800mi load, and his dispatcher put him on another big mile good paying load and is already setting him up for a 3rd.
That's what happens in the real world with companies like that.cke, 650cat425, jamespmack and 2 others Thank this. -
Ford gave me 0% financing on the 2011 Ranger I traded in for the Ram.
I would’ve bought another Ford for that reason alone, but they couldn’t build what I wanted.cke, Flint1, PoleCrusher and 6 others Thank this. -
I’ve definitely ran some crap ones like that but luckily I haven’t experienced not having a load for me yet; hmm I always wondered what a crap load was, guess short runs are if you’re paid by the mile like mecke, PoleCrusher, 650cat425 and 4 others Thank this.

Ive run into multiple WE guys who are making $250-300/wk because a dispatcher doesnt give them a load and leave them sitting for a couple days. Example. In Feb or March, I dropped off in Abilene and was supposed to load the next morning in Sweetwater. Am ice storm hit that night and ended up shutting everything down, but before that I got over to the plant in Sweetwater and there was a WE driver sitting there. He told me he'd been there 2 days waiting for a load. We both left and went to a truck stop till the next morning.
So that next morning I head back over to load and I see that WE driver hooking up a loaded trailer thag was there the day before and according to him the day before that when he 1st got there. So that trailer was preloaded for approx 72hrs while that driver sat there looking at it. If I had to guess Id bet while he sat there, 50-75 other WE guys came and went picking up loads. -

Well I feel pretty confident that won’t be me, if they have half a brain anyway; I mean how many new WE drivers even know how to use their chains and binders hehe felt pretty good being able to give back the other day showing another driver how to use his; unless he rolled his truck he definitely already made it to Kentucky
Hell I wish my next load was nothing but suicide coils, got a certain score to settle with those sob’s
