This is just my two cents, but in my opinion your numbers are cheap. Why do you want to offer to run with that rate per mile? Also I can only assume that the company you work for has more that one truck. So it would be a MAJOR step for the company to invest in a one man operation. I suggest before you wrack your brain with the numbers, ask them if they would even consider hiring you

Yes they run 10 trucks. And like I said I don’t wanna run cheap but want to propose an offer that he likes and I like. So that’s why I am looking for input. And yes I have no idea if he will even go for it. But since I basically run the load alone and am no where near his shop etc I thought maybe it would be worth it for him to not have the over head

they won’t lose the contract I guarantee 99% they love us we have a yard right at their plant and bend over backwards for them. They basically contacted us to do the contract years ago because we were already pulling for them and wanted us to take it all over. But anyway thanks. And if we lost it no big deal thousands of jobs out there with my experience

    107k a year?

If he is making $2 a mile and you offer him $1.85, he won’t take it because he is making more then 15 cents.

also if your costs is $1.75 (just a number for an example), you should add 15 to 30% to that number - 27 to 55 cents more, pushing the rate to ~$2 to ~$2.40 a mile.

    alds Thanks this.

My other option is to run end dump which I have experience in among many other configurations. And I know all the numbers for that

Don’t count on that stuff, you have no idea what the customer will do.

107200 miles per year on my route yes. My cost would be 1.51 including salary taxes etc. and my guess on him getting $2.00/mile is probably way low I actually think he is probably getting closer to 2.45

Well obviously he does consider his whole 10 truck 12 driver company is based around it. We haul nothing else and for no one else. But I do get what your saying.

Why the hell would you want to run 107k miles a year with your truck? Hell why would you even want to do that as a company

    it’s about money, not miles
