I am getting my own authority with plans on running power only loads. I do not care about getting home as I am single without children and I will be selling my house when I am fully able to make the leap. I will have a free-ish base I can stay at every once in a while as well. I am looking for advice on how to make myself as versatile as possible to help finding loads through load boards. I have all endorsements possible but I will not be able to afford hazmat insurance to start with despite having most of my trucking experience as a fuel hauler.

Also, what things should i carry with me as a power only O/O?

In my opinion, you should have your own trailer. Much more flexibility. Why are you only interested in power only? A lot of power only are return trips to to pick up location with multiple stops, and they are the crap runs that nobody wants.

Reason is that I will stopping for my "hometime" in various areas of the country and I believe having a trailer will severely limit my ability to do that.

I do realize that I won't make the best money doing it this way but I want to be able to stop in Wyoming for a week to sled or stop in AZ for a week to golf etc.

I'm looking for a place to start my base of operations after a few years of power only.

Or educate me now and help me come up with a better plan

You can still do that with your own trailer. People here will help you find a safe place to park. If you can find power only delivering new trailers, that may work.

PO is such a hassle, there are always problems with trailers, scheduling, etc.. Get your own trailer, you will make more money and have less stress in your life

In your opinion, what trailer type should I get if I do go that route? Flatbed?
