I’m gunna go with $1.86 all he can say is no lol. Iv been in sales business before trucking so I have that all he can say is no mentality. I just know he is a great boss and praises me constantly about how great I am which I laugh it cause my job is cake compared to so many Iv had. But sounds like no one wants to show up everyday know his job with no hand holding
-
$1.86 on 107,000 miles i wouldn’t show up at all anyday; #### the hand holding.lynchy, Brettj3876, Cat sdp and 1 other person Thank this. -
I hope you don't loose the contract. But if someone came in and under bid your company, you would loose the contract. All companies care about is the bottom line, money it happens all the time.
-
What will you do when somebody comes and underbids ur company and secures the contract. Whats ur plan then ? You would be better off getting own authority and going and undercutting ur former company to secure the contract urself.
-
And if we lose contract now I’d be out of a job also and my company would go under. The owner doesn’t seem to be worried nor the other drivers who have been here years

Ugh my other reply didn’t post... so you guys would want $2.00/mi? Remember this is all miles paid, no dead head, no scales, no traffic, only 2 nights out no weekends no holidays. Do you all average $2.00/mi all miles if so I think your doing great because majority of research of lease on jobs arnt paying that for all miles. I won’t have any trailer cost or my own authority

I suggest talking to a bank about buying a truck before you talk to your boss. It’s probably a good idea to have as much lined up as you can so you know you definitely could do it if he agrees.
As far as if you should or not that’s a tough call. There’s been many businesses succeed that probably all of us on here would think would fail and other businesses fail that should work. It’s finally your choice. We are blessed to live in a country where we are free to make those choices. Best of luck whatever you decide!!! -
Oh I already have financing for truck an insurance estimate etc. that’s what I based my numbers on. I could get a more expensive truck but can find decent $40k trucks under300k miles these day’s. Luckily I have friends in the truck dealership biz and financial biz. Of course it helps when credit is over 800 have low debt to credit ratio. Thanks for all your replies I’ll keep ya updated if it goes or not. If not then my end dump option will be my next move
OldeSkool Thanks this. -
In that situation I would probably approach the owner of the trucking company you work for and tell him your interest. He will let you know right away if he is even interested. I would not approach him with a number! I garrantee your to low.
Be prepared to lose your job once you broach this subject. Because then you potentially become a threat to him?
So keep the conversation light and if he’s interested try and get his thoughts on a number? Your going to shoot yourselves in the foot tossing out the numbers you are talking about.
Read up on some negotiations skills.SL3406, Brettj3876 and 062 Thank this.
