28 cpm? Sign me up!

I just finished the most ridiculous recruitment process I've ever experienced. I saw an ad for a regional gig with Schneider. It's a dedicated route hauling for Target. The ad said I'd get home several times a week. That's not exactly what I'm looking for right now but I try to keep an open mind. But what really struck me was the ad said up to 31 cpm. I figured that had to be a typo. They must have meant 51 right?

Anyway, I fill out the application. Soon after, I get a call from an automated system. (Really?) So I go through the process and finally speak to a recruiter. She starts telling me some of the details. It doesn't really excite me. But I just had to ask about the pay. I mention that the ad said 31 cpm and that sounded way to low. She says "oh that does seem low... let me look. Oh, ok... so with 2 years experience you would be getting 28 cpm plus $12.50 per hour for all on-duty, non-driving time."

Wait... what? She says that she isn't a hiring recruiter. I could talk to a hiring recruiter about the pay. Uh... ok...
"Well all our hiring recruiters are busy, would you like to schedule an appointment for next week Thursday?" LOL. Uh... sure.

So sure enough a hiring recruiter calls me 5 days later and confirms that the job would pay 28 cpm plus $12.50 per hour for things like fueling and the time it takes to do a drop and hook. I just couldn't believe it!

I said "that's just ridiculous and there is no way I would take that". She said ok well would you like me to see if we have anything else available? LMAO! "No thanks. I'm good"

I can't believe anyone would be dumb enough to take that! Even as a rookie I made 37 cpm with May! Anyway... safe to say that's the last time I ever bother replying to a Schneider ad

 

Sure. But my last job paid 45 cpm. So at 65 mph I was making $29.25 per hour.
