Helps if you know 5 or so different ways of saying the samething!
There's the problem....to many "trainers",not enough "TEACHERS"!
Just guessing...those look to be about 18-20 inch DBW...(diameter breast high)... and being oak, a very unstable wood. Oak dies and rots from the inside out, and most times shows no outward sign of disease. Also, it grows in twists not a good straight grain like pine, making the fall direction sometimes hard to pinpoint, on top of the factit is very dense and heavy. What you have on your hands is something for trained and experienced sawyers. To get to the shattered tree, the widow maker (leaner) will be the realtricky part...will it drop strait, will it twist, how solidis the connection to the main trunk, is it still connected with partial rooting? If it is rooted, how much can you take off before the main trunk begins to stand back up?
Guessing the DBH, a 12 inch bar should do the trick The "bar" is the piece the chain runs on and is attached to the powerhead...chainsaws don't have "blades"....(people say that all the time...the blade of my chainsaw....drives mebonkers!)....I recommend Stihl,a little bit pricey, but well worth the extra compared to Poulan or Echo or Husquvarna....if you have the need, which it looks like you do. But this job is not for a rookie, and tree services aren't cheap...so think it through very carefully.
example of rookie not knowing how to do a job....cheap saw also...

Yeah. New guys will still have that GOTTA GO mentality. So, we left out the next morning, timed it to where we hit Bexar county right at 0900, went around the 1604 loop around San Antonio, shot up 10 and stopped in Junction and let the pilot cars fuel. Had 2 rookies (Bonehead was one of the) in a rush jump out in front of me and raced down the road. The other rookie was out front and took the wrong turn around the San Angelo loop. Bonehead went the correct way but ran up 84 towards Lubbock when he should have detoured to Colorado City,TX. There was tons of construction and Bonehead got caught right in the middle of it all.
2 big mistakes guys in the business make: 1, being in a hurry and 2, handing a pilot car a permit and trusting them to follow the permitted route. Happens all the time. You get a new guy pulling his first superload and the pilot car will come up to you telling you how long he or she has been at this and the million lb load they escorted last week. Irrelevant. It's YOUR ticket, driver. They don't care because they don't have skin in the game. Bonehead's pilot cars were the ones telling him to go ahead and go and he was taking what they were saying as gospel. Well, his pilot cars got him stuck off route in a construction zone on US 84.NightWind, 650cat425, singlescrewshaker and 10 others Thank this. -
He’s barely wearing any ppe at all; hmm that’s the first time I ever seen that one, seen the tree fall two different ways and had to watch again; it was rotten in the center and split off two different directions650cat425, singlescrewshaker, cke and 3 others Thank this.

Have you had a bad experience with Husqvarna chainsaws? I was thinking about getting one with a 20 inch bar at least, if memory serves me well there is indeed a big price difference between Stihl and HusqvarnaNightWind, 650cat425, singlescrewshaker and 5 others Thank this.
