Yep....he should have taken the limbs off first (reduces weight for the main trunk fall). He went way overboard on the wedgecut....for that tree, maybe 1/4 to1/3 depth would be enough....I saw problems right when he started back cut...why would he be above the hinge line?
And the little ATV to pull "tension"....I was waiting for the tree to fall backwards and jerk that ATV right out from under the little girl driving....
    can't make this stuff up.

In the past 6 or 7 years they have cheapened up on the construction. They have'nt upgraded their engine performance especially on the cold start...very easy to flood the carbuerator. Stihl has greatly improved the engine .... set choke to prime, 3 pulls maybe 4 to get the burp, then switch choke to position 2,1 or 2 pulls it's running. Husky still has high hours at the shop..does not stand up to heavy use, the engine and transition bearings wear out quickly.
Get a new Stihl today...your grandson could be using it 20 years from now with you just maintaining the unit in your own shop...not the dealers 75$ per hour shop.

I guess I'm sold on Stihl, we have
2 saws, hers with 12 inch bar, mine with 18 inch bar
14 ft pole saw....great machine but rough on the shoulders...very heavy
tiller, 4 tynes...great for smaller gardens and you can change tiller tyne number and gaping
    backpack blower
    hedge trimmer
weed eater....brother have they got expensive! commercial type with carry harness and throttle arms
    standard polesaw....no motor
battery powered small blower....that was mine for blowing out the trailer....no more broom, charger off inverter.

That is why the power machines are spelled with "HL" and the liquid refreshment is spelled with "LL"!

so how would you fell that tree that’s hung up in the other? If I had to take an educated guess I’d say you gotta carefully cut the other one too; hell there’s another one in our front yard with the top of the trunk missing
