So, too much rain lately has it too wet to harvest? I usually see them harvesting when it's still very green.

Depends what they use it for.
When used for silage its harvested green and stored and allowed to ferment
When going to a feed mill they usually dry it in the fields for the most part around here. That way its dry enough when they store it they have to dry it very little if at all. -
For kernel corn, they only use the kernel. Everything else is left in the field. Is has to be like less than %13 moisture or something? Other wise it has to be dried before they can put it in the elevator with the other?
At least around here? -

The ground has to be dry enough to get in The field too.

We picked up an ancient Stihl faller's saw a while back. Had a big bar on it, 36" maybe bigger. That sucker made short work of a firewood load. Could cut off a good 10-12 pieces per pass once you got the ends of the pile squared up.

@PoleCrusher ,another reason could be they haven't gotten to it yet because they are busy elsewhere. If your farming 3-4k acres it won't all be done when ready.
Yes,moisture does play a factor but for the most part the bigger farmers are drying it down themselves instead of taking it straight to the elevator.cke, Eldiablo, Isafarmboy and 6 others Thank this. -
