Very good advice for not hauling reefer. The only thing I disagree with is I believe him not signing the rate confirmation, hurts him rather than helps him. Once he signs the BOL he is responsible for the load, but without a signed rate con its not a contract.
Am i wrong for not delivering?

Deal with it after delivery, it is much easier to deal with a collection than with a cargo claim.
If I was you, would have told the new broker to stick it, the contract and customer isn’t his, it is the broker who you have the contract with.
You could also bill the consignee for the load, especially because another broker appeared out of no where and tried to hujack the load,bryan21384, Sirscrapntruckalot, Dino soar and 3 others Thank this. -
take the 7000 and go against there bounds for the rest. you don't need the problems. good luck

I'm 99% sure that none of my rate cons or broker agreements have actual signatures on them upon receipt. I do sign them but don't think i send them back unless requested by few brokers, and few brokers send electronic rate con that require electronic signature. Is there a way to require brokers to electronically sign agreements? I'm going to be at receiver tomorrow morning when they open and wait to speak with shipper. If the original broker is scam, then only the shipper has my signature. I just need to get paid, this net 30 is killing me and i recently stopped factoring with truckstop and canceled subscription to their board, poor customer service. Though once I get my TMS software running I may have to subscribe again.
Appreciate all the advice -

Cab card comes in and I get a call asking about my posted power only truck. Landstar broker offeres $1000 day for 4 days work but i have to deadhead to Denver, CO so will pay $5000. I get rate con and take off. couple hours later i get call asking eta and if I'll be able to pick up a load. I pull over do the math and let him know that I can pick up a load but will run out of time and not be able to make delivery per request. I get call back saying its ok just pick up load when I get there.
I pick up load head west on the 70 for 3 stop run but run out of time and stop at rest area for 10hour break. Little to no phone service. Wake up make 1st delivery asked where i was and told i was late by more than one person. I had to move a trailer out of the door park it on the parking lot. Spent almost an hour trying to reconnect to the trailer cause the 5th wheel wouldn't lock, learned that this was due to not being level. so happy trailers have high an dlow gears. any way after delivering and returning to shipper sat for 4 days. Calling every day 2 times a day called/emailed broker everyday also. 30 days later told that shipper didn't want to use me cause I was late to deliveries. OOIDA told me that I should have got more details on rate con and that I would most likely only get TONU. Lesson learned no rate con I don't move. I don't like whats on rate con fix or I don't move. -
