So as I expected on this delivery in Portland this morning there was an issue. Got there and talked to the store manager, he says “when this truck pulls out of the dock, put it in.” I say, “ I’m in a sleeper truck with a 53ft trailer, there is zero chance I’m getting in the dock.” Now mind you the truck that’s currently in the dock is a day cab with a 30 ft trailer, and he barely got it in the dock without hitting parked cars on the street. “You don’t have a straight truck?” Nope! “How about a lift gate?” No sir! A few phone calls, and it’s decided I will take it to an offsite warehouse. Someone definitely drop the ball, but we got it done in the end, and they are going to throw in an additional stop pay for me.

Deadheaded 70 miles south on the 5 to Tangent, Oregon to live load a load going back to Shelby, Iowa. I’ll be glad to get away from this dense smoke.

I unloaded in Garland, Tx last Thursday and then reloaded for a Friday morning delivery in Carthage, MO. Got to park overnight at the delivery so that was good. Loaded Friday in Joplin for a drop Friday in Bellevue, NE. Bounced to Lincoln to pick up headed for Garland, Tx again to deliver today. Got that done and now I'm getting loaded, got to love a drop and hook live load lol, heading to Valley, NE for whenever I get there tomorrow. Don't know what's next but hopefully another Lincoln to Garland. This are easy money loads.
More props to FCC, last week on Wednesday I had my truck scheduled to have some work done on it at the Fremont shop. They saved me $100 on one part and what I was gonna pay myself didn't include labor. Lol. Anyway, turns out when they replaced my suspension leveling valve an air bag started leaking. Travis called around to try and find one close cause KW doesn't show up till 4pm. Ends up he can't find one so he asks if I want to go get the part. I told him I can't, my truck is in the shop. Lol. They give me the keys to the shop truck and send me after the part. I thought that was really cool. Not many companies will use their vehicle and fuel to chase down a part for an O/O. It was only 64 miles round trip but still a lot of companies wouldn't have done it.Last edited: Sep 15, 2020

As to proactive, ya, had plenty of time on the load so it didn’t impact me at all and especially knowing that I was going to be dropping the trailer off down there just didn’t make sense to move it so far away knowing it was due. Might as well knock it out.
If the company is going to go to such lengths to keep our equipment in good shape, I wanna help if/when I can.Crusader66 and runningman0661 Thank this. -

The major difference between prior experiences and FCC is that here at FCC they have a certain “synergy” brewing... and that starts right at Orientation... “we LOOK at the trailers every 8 weeks or so” ... “we WANT you to bring them to us”... “we take care of our equipment so we would like for you to do the same” ... and it’s actually easier to get stuff done at our internal shops than deal with issues on the road... unlike other places I’m sure... they get the ball rolling from word go. This results in you getting VERY CLEAN equipment in GREAT SHAPE from day one... which means less big clean up jobs... less issues to be proactive about.
Just about every trailer I touch is pretty dang clean and I’m talking nothing but dust in most of them... it would be very hard to pass along a mess as it would SO stand out to the next driver.
What also helps is the type of freight FCC hauls... no messy Reefer... no Nails in the deck to pull... So cleaning a trailer is just a quick sweep out...
FCC gets the ball rolling on Day One... works hard to eliminate issues that stops the ball from rolling... and THAT actually helps Drivers want to help the team keep the ball rolling.
Other places just complain that the Drivers are lazy... which can be true, very true... or so I’ve heard...
Come check it out...cdavis188, Crusader66, gntorres61 and 5 others Thank this. -
