Transmission oil change

Eaton Trans, has always taken 50W, but I think they changed it now to 40W, at least for the Automated trans. The Endurant in a class by itself. Sounds like you have good plan. Trans temp guage a must. Once i had one blow out of the vent, ended up it was cooler leaking and filling trans with coolant, few months later trans was done

 

The only other thing I can think of is maybe the seal at the back of the transmission?

I can't remember if it was 400 horsepower and under or 350 horsepower and under but they said that I could delete the cooler and I put a special bypass cover on it.

I know you travel a lot farther than I do so if that's something you would consider you have to check with Eaton about that or maybe some of the guys here would know about that.

I like it deleted because it's just one less thing.

 

Again, I heard synthetic is the way to go for boxes and rears.

 

How much does a cooler help on keeping temp down?
Reason I ask is I’ve thought about putting one a 13 just for the heck of it on a hobby truck. Lol!
The temp hardly ever gets above 150 now with its light use. I wouldn't want to drop the temp so much to the point where the oil can’t flow good or naturally work the moisture out of itself due to not enough heat.
I’ve been using Mobil synthetic 50w for years in all my enchant trannies with great results. Always buy it in the 5 gal buckets and hand pump it in seems to be the easiest to handle.

 

The transmission "cooler" works in two ways. It does keep it cool when pulling hard, but it also warms it up when it's cold out. Like the kind of temperatures that you have to put your foot on the shifter to move, or use both hands! The northern guys can relate to this!!!! So in reality, it keeps it at a reasonable operating temperature.

Unless you’re planning on pulling some serious weight or mountains all day, then you really don’t need one. Where it’s mounted will decide how much it cools. Mine is mounted to a cross member behind the trans. It’ll bring it from 180ish down to 150 in about 20-30min after a hard pull.
