Detention or no?

The pick up times for this load I think were between 5 and 10 p.m.

The load came my way late in the afternoon so I told the broker that I couldn't be there until between 10:30 and midnight.

He said that's fine they are 24-hour shipper as long as they let them know my ETA that's okay.

So I got here at about 11 and in a door around 11:30.

I called the after hours staff when I had about a half an hour to go before 2 hours. I asked them to call and check on the load.

The dispatcher got back on the phone with me and said they're trying to work me in between loads so I'm sure I'm going to be here most of the night.

I'm just curious if I was in the door at 11:30 and I leave here at 4:30 in the morning or let's say or 5:30 should there be any detention?

I think this is considered first come first serve so I'm not sure if that's entitled to any detention?

The night dispatcher that I spoke with said I should get detention after 2 hours but I'm not sure if he knew exactly what was going on. He just told me to keep track of my times.

Honestly I'm getting paid pretty well for the load and I would have had to wait somewhere between getting loaded and the delivery time.

Somehow I don't think there's anything coming my way, but even if I could get them to give me 40 or $50 I'd be really happy.

So am I entitled to any detention or no?

 

It is 6 a.m. and I am still not loaded.

I just emailed them that I will not be able to make the appointment time for the delivery.

 

Well I really wasn't expecting anything honestly. I was just wondering what everyone thought.

And I did get here at 11:30 with their blessing. I told them all of that before I took the load. So I myself was not late. I was actually exactly on time at the time I told them I would be here.

But at this point I'm thinking they should give me something... Something. Just because I've been here all night and the appointment now is going to get pushed back at the other place and who knows I might be there all day...

I'm not sure if this would be considered a recovery load but it was just one of those last-minute loads that had to go and we negotiated a good rate for it.

I've been here long enough to take my 10 and we're still not done yet.

They put all of the load up front and I'm way over on my drives. Their scale is not working and they sent me over it twice and had me take pictures of it and now they're saying without knowing what the actual weights are they don't know what to do so I have to wait for them again.
