as far as my company goes I have never had a problem getting paid using a comdata check. as long as I have a receipt to send in by Friday the following Thur. I'll get paid for that lumper or work done on the truck.
sorry to hear that you might wait till 3 wks...goes by that would make any driver crazy....we have enough to pay for without worrying about that too.
just my 2cents worth.

Week 1 - Use lumper, minus $200 on paycheck via comcheck Monday. Sent in reciept on Tuesday
Week 2 - Check account Friday morning, $200 not re-imbursed. Delay in trip-pak, etc... I go a week with almost no funding due to bills being paid with remainder of check
Week 3 - Account has extra $200 deposited, now taxed in a higher bracket, so I actually got charged money to pay that lumper.
I just don't understand wy that stupid check has to come out of the paycheck. I mean, why is it that I can buy millions of gallons of fuel and not get charged a dime on payday, but they can't deduct the lumper fee from the same "account" that they do the fuel?
When I go to an ATM to pull money off the card, I use savings. When I fuel it comes from checking. Why doesn't the comcheck come from checking?
I understand that the vast majority of comchecks written out there, are being used by the drivers as an advance of some kind. What I do not understand is why they can differentiate on the card, but not the check. -

maybe way back when this would work but definitely "not" now... You have to have on your signed reciept a " F.E.D. # which is a something like a federal employer 10 digit code. and if they don't have this then you will get charged for it and they will deducted it back out of your check...or you could be fired either way it is best if your a company driver to not play the game.

What I'm wondering is who is the bright person to come up with the idea behind lumpers? And why does flatbed never need lumpers but often van and about always reefer does? Can it be that the receivers of van and reefer freight not really want what they get and so make the transport company pay for the unloading??????
I hear all the time that flat is too much work. It sounds to me like van and reefer is too much stress with all the waiting around and paying lumpers out of your own pocket, and then waiting weeks to be reimbursed. One very nice thing about flat or step is that most all of our freight is too heavy to handle by hand. A forklift or crane has to be used to unload. -
Question here:
Why not unload it yourself and earn some extra money? How long does it take to unload? How much is your company willing to pay? I've read a lot about guys being unhappy about waiting around all day for a lumper, so wouldn't this save time, and get you back in the drivers seat faster?
I'm a newb.
Aren't truck drivers all fat and need the exercise JK
