I see a lot of guys do that... personally I would still use two so that if one chain breaks or becomes loose, you still have one that is (hopefully) tight.

@Xray4 be sure to check out the flatbed forum. Lots of good info, pictures, tips, etc. And the regular posters there are always happy to share their knowledge.

That's only a problem if not properly done. When properly used, the only thing you'll have between two anchor points is slack chain. I used to do it a lot.

You are right never to trust banding. But a good forklift driver could turn it for your and take it off with ease

I would put something infront of the pallet to keep it from sliding in an emergency stop. Since it is so small and i feel like securement does not work as well the closer to the deck it gets.

Couple pieces of dunnage will do it or a 2inch strap around bottom of pallet pulling backwards is how i would do it. Just my opinion, looks good tho.

Thank you gents, was delivered in Denver without incident. The rez roads in N.AZ are terrible! Check out the poor job I did with the long steel, and how I fixed it.
It's obvious I mistakenly did not put downward pressure on the steel with the chains the first go around. The second seems right.

Sometimes it works where you can both choke it and secure it with one chain/strap*, or sometimes you need to do those things separately.

*Not suggesting using a strap in this case, but for things like pipe, etc.

    D.Tibbitt and Xray4 Thank this.

Looks pretty good to me. The only thing I think I would have done different is maybe add a strap or two to the middle of those long sticks of steel. I think the DOT likes securement every 5'.

Good for side-to-side, but I think it could possibly roll right out of those. I would add something to restrict forward and backwards (besides the park pin and brake ;)... which are probably pretty used up in an old cop car o_O). Or if there is just a way to move the straps to the chassis instead.
