I love the USA with all my heart. Even with the current chaos, there is nowhere I'd rather be.. That said, we as a country have done some shady things. We are not alone as global politics is a shysters game, & every nation is forced to play or die..

 

I’ve even heard talk of the VP who replaced him being behind his assassination......

i think 10 round magazines are the limit in CA, so any small semi-automatic, like say a .380 caliber would be great for a woman, and that is not to be taken in a condescending way.

all hand guns below a .45 caliber have "muzzle flip" some are more pronounced that a .45 caliber.

one might also consider a short barrel .38 caliber revolver, 6 shots.

as suggested, find a shooting range near you, are with-in x amount of miles from you, and rent out several guns (over a course of time)

my latest acquisitions have been a .45 ACP CZ semi automatic, and a Remington 1911 .45 caliber.

and i LOVE each one, as (to me) there isn't muzzle flip, the power pushes you back, making for faster sighting and shooting.

 

Several years ago I was talking to a guy I know about this very thing. He told me his dad was with the secret service on the presidential detail. On the day Kennedy was killed his dad was moved to LBJ's detail immediately. He said throughout the years he would try to get his dad to talk about the assassination and each time his dad would tell him he couldn't talk about it. He said a few months before his dad died he asked his dad again about it all. His dad told him he wished he could tell him the whole story because it needed to be told. His dad said he would tell him this much with a 100% certainty that Oswald did not kill Kennedy. I never believed he did and will never believe he did.

 

I was a sophomore when this all took place. I was watching tv that next day which was Saturday, and they were moving Oswald somewhere. Reporters were asking him questions, and all he would say was that he nothing more than a patsy. I believed him then and I believe him now. That guy wasn't smart enough to pull something like that off.

From my searching online, I couldn't find that it was absolute across all bases.
